Jabian Consulting’s Project Amplify grant program donated $20,000 to Innovate Charlotte’s Ignite Grant program, a microgrant program designed to help early-stage, minority, or women-founded startups. The four winners of the Ignite Grants were announced on November 8, 2021, at an event where finalists pitched their businesses before a panel of judges. Jabian manager, Rebecca Martin, served as one of the judges.

To qualify for the Ignite Grant, the start-up founders were required to have most of their operations in the greater Charlotte area, be in the pre-seed or early seed growth stage, have an established product or service with the ability to scale, and annual revenues of less than $100,000.

Out of 80 applications, ten finalists were selected to present their start-up to the panel of judges. Each finalist created and presented timed presentations that introduced the company, background, financials, target market, as well as how the grant funding would be used to further the company’s growth and development. After each presentation concluded, the panel of judges had four minutes to ask the presenters any questions specific to their company to glean more information. Each judge independently scored the finalists after each presentation. At the end of the competition, the judges selected the four winners based on how they each ranked the individual finalists.

We are proud to announce the following winners of the inaugural Ignite Grant:
