December 12, 2012 – Atlanta, Georgia – In honor of ASTD Employee Learning Week, December 3-7, 2012, the Atlanta Chapter of the American Society for Training and Development recognized several Atlanta companies for their excellence in Workplace Learning. Among the recognized was Jabian Consulting for its 2012 Year of Professional Development (YOPD).

Jabian launched its new employee-led initiative with the goal of providing each employee with the resources and support to raise personal, professional, and career objectives. The initiative tactically focused on several points:

  • Conducting focus groups by level to better understand the needs of the organization
  • Developing an initial inventory of internal and external professional development resources
  • Institutionalizing individual Professional Development Plans (PDPs)
  • Clarifying role- and career-level expectations
  • Reviewing the Annual Review and Feedback Processes; making appropriate changes
  • Providing flexibility to allow individuals to tailor their PDP to meet specific goals and needs

Ultimately, YOPD was an initiative for employees and by employees that gave those at Jabian greater access to internal and external learning, mentoring, studying, and personal development. Jabian’s Year of Professional Development was a success.
